GOAT SONG

What if there were no more songs left in the world?

Goat Song is a sixty-minute, theatricalised music gig inspired by the myth of Orpheus and Eurydice, centring Eurydice’s journey through the underworld. The performance's visual and sonic storyworld explores our fears and anxieties, often associated with death, the ghostly and the eerie. Created by Dust Ensemble under the direction of Mary Steadman, the work combines live vocal looping, original live and pre-recorded music/song, movement, and richly layered visual dramaturgy. The five-strong ensemble guides the audience between the mundane (the upper world) and the mysterious (the underworld), holding a tension between the two worlds, the ordinary with the poetic, and humour with visceral movement.
